Expert Microsoft Excel Consulting Services for Microsoft Excel for Windows

Microsoft Excel 2019 for Windows

Versions of Excel: Microsoft Excel comes in two versions. One of the versions is for the PC/Windows (Example: Excel 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019). The other version is for the Apple Mac (Example: 2004, 2008, 2011, 2016, possibly 2019). The majority of businesses, government agencies and educational institutions use the PC version. Many of the creative organizations and individuals use the Mac version of Excel.

You can use an Excel file created on a PC running Microsoft Windows on an Apple Mac, and visa versa, but some of the functionality may be different or missing. We create Excel files that will run on both. The VBA/Macros may be different on each version, but you can write code that will work on both, for the most part.

There are other differences, the most note worthy is that the Mac version of Excel is missing Microsoft Access. Many clients use Excel as a front-end, and Access as a back-end. This can actually be a large problem for many organizations that want to work in a Mac or mixed (PC and Mac) environment.

The PC/Windows editions of the Microsoft Office Suite contain some of the most used desktop productivity tools used by the majority of organizations across the globe. Programs such as Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. The majority of our clients use two or more of these tools, and them come to us when they want them to be at least partially integrated and automated with Microsoft Excel. Of these Microsoft Excel and Access are the two most integrated applications in the Office Suite. Outlook would be the third most integrated, and Word would come in a distant fourth.

The Full Suite of Microsoft Office

We write Excel VBA/Macros for many of our clients. This code automates the manual work that can take hours, days, or weeks to perform, and it runs it in seconds or minutes. VBA/Macros is not restricted to automation, just as powerful, you can write code that will allow you to integrate two or more of the Microsoft Office applications. While SQL Server, Azure and Power BI are not part of the Office Suite, VBA/Macros can automate and integrate these data driven applications with the suite of desktop productivity tools (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Vizio, OneNote.
